Introducing Ice Hockey New Zealand, the New Identity for Ice Hockey in New Zealand

Introducing Ice Hockey New Zealand, the new identity for ice hockey in New Zealand.

Our vision is to be a ‘World Class Sporting Organisation‘ and we needed an identity that reflects this objective.

The Silver Fern is the undoubtedly the most iconic symbol in New Zealand sport and has come to embody a pursuit of excellence, of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, that defines New Zealand sports on the global stage.

The Southern Cross serves as a link to our past and all those who have pushed the sport forward. It has been a part of our national team emblem since the first time we competed internationally in 1987.

The combination of these two elements links our past, present, and future, while connecting us with the broader New Zealand sporting landscape. It modernises our branding, creating a recognisable and inspiring identity to carry into the future.

Ice Hockey New Zealand General Manager, Paris Heyd said “ice hockey has come a long way in recent years, and we felt it was the right time for a new, modern look that reflected where we have come from and where we are going. We are ice hockey in New Zealand, we are proud of our history and we are excited about our future, and our new identity is one the next generation will be proud to represent and be a part of.”

2025 is a huge year for ice hockey in New Zealand, with two world championships in Dunedin, the return of the Trans-Tasman Challenge against Australia, expansion of our national women’s league and much more.

Ice Hockey New Zealand President, Andy Mills added “as we step into a landmark year for our sport, this new identity will inspire us to continue growing and showcasing this incredible sport for many years to come.”
