Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Digital Marketing and Engagement Manager to join our team at the New Zealand Ice Hockey League and New Zealand Women’s Ice Hockey League. This role is pivotal in driving the growth and promotion of both leagues through effective digital strategies, audience engagement, and content creation. The successful candidate will have a passion for sports marketing, a deep understanding of digital media platforms, and a proven track record in increasing viewership and fan engagement.

Key Responsibilities
- Livestream Promotion: Promote all live broadcasts via social media channels.
- Content Creation: Develop and distribute highlight packages, behind-the-scenes content, player interviews, and exclusive features to engage fans across various platforms.
- Younger Audience Engagement: Create and implement strategies to connect with younger audiences through social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
- Gamification and Interactive Experiences: Integrate gamification elements, such as fantasy leagues, fan voting, and interactive apps, to provide fans with immersive and engaging experiences, and promote via website and social media.
- Platform Management: Manage the league’s presence across multiple digital platforms, including social media. Ensure content is tailored to each platform and accessible on various devices.
- Influencer Partnerships: Establish and maintain partnerships with influencers and celebrities to promote the league and drive viewership and in-person attendance.
- Promotional Campaigns: Create promotional reels and campaigns using game footage and strategic marketing techniques. Distribute content across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok to maximise exposure and viewership.
- Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyse digital engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies. Provide regular reports and insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Proven experience in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation, preferably within the sports industry.
- Strong understanding of digital media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, team members, content creators, and influencers.
- Creative and strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure and report on campaign performance.
- Passion for ice hockey and a deep understanding of the sport and its fanbase is a plus.
Compensation:
This is a part-time, independent contractor position, timed around the annual league seasons. However, as a primarily volunteer-driven organisation, the payment is modest and reflective of the nature of the role and organisation. What we do offer is the opportunity to be part of a passionate team, with the possibility for growth and additional involvement in the sport’s development, as well as providing travel and accomodation as needed for special events.
